The Rotuma Noticeboard is a free, volunteer-run community platform. It exists solely to help Rotumans at home and abroad share information — job opportunities, services, community events, requests, and items for sale or exchange.

We are not a marketplace, employment agency, real estate agent, or financial service. We do not facilitate, broker, or participate in any transaction between parties.

No verification of listings or identities

While all notices are moderated before appearing publicly, moderation only checks for appropriateness and community standards — it does not verify:

• The accuracy or truthfulness of any listing
• The identity, qualifications, or legitimacy of any poster
• The quality, condition, or existence of any goods or services advertised
• That prices, wages, or compensation quoted are fair or correct
• That contact details belong to the person posting

All risk is between the parties

Any deal, trade, payment, arrangement, employment, purchase, sale, or exchange made as a result of a notice on this site is entirely between the two parties involved. You enter into any such arrangement at your own risk.

The Rotuma Noticeboard, its administrators, and its volunteers accept no responsibility whatsoever for any loss, financial damage, personal harm, fraud, scam, dispute, misrepresentation, breach of contract, or any other outcome arising from contact or dealings between parties through this site.

Currencies, prices, and timezones

Prices and compensation may be listed in Fijian Dollars (FJD), Australian Dollars (AUD), New Zealand Dollars (NZD), US Dollars (USD), or described as free or negotiable. Always confirm the currency and exact amount directly with the poster before agreeing to anything.

Dates and times shown on listings are based on the poster's local region. Rotuma and Fiji operate on Fiji Standard Time (UTC+12). Posters from Australia, New Zealand, the USA, and other regions will be in different timezones. Always confirm times directly with the poster.

WhatsApp and Viber contacts

Some posters choose to list their WhatsApp or Viber number publicly so people can contact them directly. If you use these numbers, you are communicating directly with the poster. The Rotuma Noticeboard has no visibility into, and no responsibility for, any messages or arrangements made outside this website.

We recommend you do not send money or personal financial information to anyone through messaging apps before meeting in person or verifying their identity independently.

Protecting yourself

• Meet in a public place when exchanging goods in person.
• Never send money in advance to someone you have not verified.
• Be cautious of offers that seem too good to be true.
• Use secure payment methods — avoid cash transfers to unknown parties.
• If paying for a service, agree on a clear scope and price in writing first.
• Trust your instincts — if something feels wrong, stop the interaction.

Reporting scams

If you believe you have encountered a fraudulent listing or have been scammed, please:

• Report it to your local police or consumer protection authority.
• Contact the Rotuma Noticeboard admin via the site so the listing can be removed.

We will remove notices that are reported as fraudulent as quickly as possible, but we cannot guarantee real-time monitoring and are not liable for any harm that occurs before removal.
